Grand Maestro Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Iran's most prolific and popular classical vocalist is generally regarded as a living legend of Persian music. In this remarkable performance of classical Persian music, he will be accompanied by the 18 member Shahnaz Ensemble directed by Maestro Majid Derakhshani, one of Iran's most dynamic composers and instrumentalists.

Shahnaz Ensemble members are some of the most virtuoso young musicians of Iran including:

Radman Tavakoli Tar (six-string lute)
Hamid Ghanbary Tombak (hand percussion)
Saman Samimi Kamancheh (up-right fiddle)
Hossein Rezaeenia daf (frame drum)
Hamed Afshari Shahnavaz (*new instrument)
Mahdi Amini Saghar (*new instrument)
Mehrdad Nasehi Sorahi Alto (*new instrument)
Sahar Ebrahim Qanoun (plucked-dulcimer)
Negar Kharkan Sorahi soprano (*new instrument)
Jamshid Safarzadeh Tondar (*new instrument)
Kaveh Motamediyan Saboo (*new instrument)
Dariush Azar Shahbang (*new instrument)
Majid Derakhshani Composer & Ensemble director/ tar (six-string lute)

* All new instruments have been designed by Ustad Shajarian to either introduce new sound textures to classical Persian music or complement the sound of existing musical instruments used in classical Persian music.
